We create brand photography using AI, directed by seventeen years of professional photography experience. Whether you brief us with an exact spec or just the problem you need solved, creative direction, product accuracy, and brand nuance stay at the centre of the work.
-
AI photography uses generative tools to create brand visuals with more speed, flexibility, and scale than a traditional shoot allows. At Mallen Studio, AI is never the whole story, the process is human-directed, commercially minded, and shaped by professional photography standards throughout.
-
A photographer-directed studio is the difference. Every image is directed by seventeen years of professional photography experience, the same judgement, lighting, and composition you'd expect from a top photographer, applied to a process that also removes the cost, logistics, and lead time of a traditional shoot. Most AI studios can produce a plausible-looking image. We aim for a considered one.
-
Yes. We focus on imagery that feels credible, premium, and true to the brand, AI doesn't mean compromising on authenticity. We use it to expand what's possible while protecting the look, tone, and trust a brand has already built.
-
No. Outdoor and performance brands make up a lot of our current portfolio, but the capability applies to any product-led or lifestyle brand that needs accurate, distinctive imagery, from tech and beauty to FMCG and fashion. If product truth and creative judgement matter to the brief, it's a fit.
-
We're based in Bristol, but the work isn't limited by location. Because there's no crew, studio, or location shoot to arrange, we work with brands and agencies of every size, from small independent labels to established international names, wherever they happen to be based.
-
Mallen Studio is founder-led by Tony and Martin Allen, a deliberately small team by design. Martin's seventeen years of professional photography experience sits behind every brief, and we bring in a network of specialist photographers for hybrid work when needed. Being small means every project gets senior creative attention, not junior hands passed down a chain.
-
Collaborative, first and foremost. You know your brand and your customer. We bring seventeen years of photographic judgement to the table as a creative partner, not just a supplier. That opinion, informed and honest, is a core part of what you're paying for, alongside the images themselves.
-
Yes. If you want to see what we can do before committing to a bigger project, we can take a small test brief and send test shots. You can enquire by email or through the form on our website.
-
Ideally, hi-res reference imagery of the product, though that's not always possible if it hasn't been shot yet or doesn't exist yet. We can work from 3D renders, or you can send us the physical product and we'll shoot original reference photography ourselves. We'll always aim for product accuracy, and check whether the brief needs total realism or something more aspirational before we start.
-
Turnaround depends on scope, but most projects run from two days to two weeks, compared with weeks to months for a traditional shoot. Test briefs move fastest, since they're deliberately small and contained. You'll get a realistic timeline as part of your written quote before anything starts.
-
Yes. We work with clients to create AI models in the same way a real-world cast would be selected: by aligning the model with your brand identity, target customer, aesthetic, and the overall vibe you want the imagery to convey. Representation is built into our process as standard, and if you want to speak to a specific demographic, we can shape the model selection around that brief. Once a model is built for your brand, it's yours. We'll never reuse it for another client.
-
We take time to understand the environment, the specialist action, and the customer world the model needs to inhabit, then build mood boards with you to make sure the final imagery feels authentic. Whether the brief calls for a business setting, a correct yoga pose, snowboarding, running, sailing, or using a product properly, we focus on the details that make the scene feel real and commercially credible.
-
Yes. Whether it's a power tool, vehicle, medical device, earbuds, or another technical product, we can create premium brand photography in almost any environment you want, provided we start with accurate product imagery and a clear understanding of how the product works in the real world. The beauty of AI photography, directed by experienced humans who truly understand the brief, is that we can place your product in settings that would otherwise be expensive, impractical, or impossible to shoot.
-
Absolutely. We can work from CAD drawings, CGI models, or other early-stage product visuals to create authentic, accurate imagery that brings a concept to life. That could mean placing a product in the middle of the ocean, up a mountain, in a city, or even in outer space, depending on the brief. The key is starting with the most accurate information available, understanding which details matter, and then discussing what's possible before we begin.
-
Quality control is central to our process. For product-led brands, details like colour, material, fit, zips, and real-world context must be right, so we work carefully to make sure the final imagery is commercially trustworthy.
-
Yes. We can create everything in AI, but we can also work in a hybrid way where needed. Mallen Studio's foundation is professional, real-world photography, and we have a network of talented photographers if a brief needs a more traditional or specialist production approach.
-
Yes. We are also developing 5-second AI-generated video content. If you are interested in video, please enquire for more information and we can talk through what is possible.
-
It is especially useful for brands that need more content, more often, without repeating full-scale shoots every season. It also works well for brands that need to respond quickly to product sell-through, changing campaign priorities, or paid social needs that demand constant creative refresh.
-
Platforms like Meta need a steady flow of new creative. Human-directed AI makes it easier to generate more variations, test more ideas, and keep campaigns fresh without relying on a few expensive shoots each year. That can be a big advantage for smaller brands with tighter budgets.
-
Yes. We plan with channel use in mind, so imagery can work across web, social, paid ads, and email. That is important because wide scenic shots often lose value when they are cropped for digital platforms.
-
Yes. We can create outdoor, lifestyle, and wanderlust-led visuals without the cost, logistics, weather risk, and travel burden of moving a crew to remote locations. That gives brands more flexibility to tell a bigger story while keeping production controlled.
-
Every image comes with perpetual usage rights as standard. Once a project is delivered and paid for, it's yours to use anywhere, any time, with no time limits, no territory restrictions, and no re-licensing fees later. That's different from stock photography, usually licensed by time or channel, or a traditional shoot, where usage is often capped by term.
-
Send us a short enquiry and tell us what you need the images to achieve. From there, we can discuss a test brief, a campaign plan, or a wider content system depending on your goals.
